AI dubbing: the same video in another language

AI dubbing translates what is said in a video and replaces the spoken track with a synthetic voice in the new language, sometimes matched to the speaker's own. As of 2026-09-25.

Kapwing lists dubbing that translates dialogue into over 40 languages. Descript translates and dubs in 30 or more languages on its top plan. Pippit lists AI dubbing in its product menu, and VEED dubs with voice cloning and text to speech.

Dubbing goes a step further than translated captions: the viewer hears the new language instead of reading it.

It runs in stages that can each go wrong, transcription, translation and speech, so a mistake in the first carries through to the last.

Some apps add lip dubbing, which adjusts the mouth to the new words. Captions lists AI lip dubbing beside its one-tap translation.

The language counts on these pages are not measured the same way. A count can mean languages a transcript can be translated into or languages a voice can speak.

Dubbing is usually metered, in credits or minutes, and sits on higher plans than captions do.

A native speaker's listen before publishing is the check the pages cannot provide.

2Making the drama before the edit

Upstream of an app feature like “AI dubbing”, SceneMixer describes its own generation steps:

SceneMixer writes dialogue into the script analysis, assigns each line to a shot with a speaker and a short delivery note, and the video model performs it — picture and audio generated together, so the mouth forms that sentence in the language you chose.

The second trim replaces the first trimmed version; the generated clip stays in Version History.
